Ultimate self care

So many of us view Counselling as a last resort, something we have to go to if we really have to. There is still some stigma and there is still shame and embarrassment that we may need external help. 

Maybe you are worried about talking to a stranger?

Feel you should be able to cope alone, and asking for help is a sign of weakness?

If you leave it a little longer, things will sort themselves out?

…Maybe we have reached a point where we can’t see any hope, we just want the pain to stop.

By shifting the public perception of Counselling as a type of self care, an MOT for the mind, we are remove this stigma and allowing people to feel more comfortable talking about and accessing counselling before they reach this point. 

Talking about Counselling like it’s socially acceptable, a way of showing that you are putting your mental wellbeing first, is contagious. Once one person starts doing this, others will feel it is okay to do this also. 

If we put Counselling in place for ourselves before we reach the end of the line, we are investing in preventative care, looking after and taking responsibility for our own wellbeing.

Learning more about yourself, why you respond the way you do, how everything links together in our lives, can be fascinating. It can offer you more insight and self understanding. 

Counselling aims to empower you, giving you access to your own inner tools to make change, cope better and feel more at peace in your own skin. You are developing your own inner therapist for the changes and losses that life inevitably sends our way.
